Fai sat behind the counter of the rather large card shop he had set up. He had set it up as a favor to the Ikimonos to help spread their franchise more. He was used to working in card shops due to having worked at Solomon's card shop in Domino when he was 12 years younger. Yeah, he felt right at home in here. He was the only employee at the moment, but that was fine by him.
Yet, he felt more at home because he was back in the states. He was born in Washington state, so he was familiar with the west coast. He had never thought he'd come back to the states after what happened with his parents, but oh well. Things happen, and perhaps fate's hand had guided him back.
He used his good eye to scan the near empty store. Only a few people here, since it was the Grand Opening. Rumors would have to spread about the vast selection of goods the store had before it got popular.
He sat back in his chair and rubbed his left eye under the eye patch he had there. Yes, it was still there, but he couldn't see out of it at all. His right eye was his only good eye, and his other senses seemed to have improved ever since, so he didn't mind being half blind.
Slowly, as he watched the customers browse, he wondered how his old friends were doing. Shizuma, Mizuki, Marvelo, Luke... They had passed through his mind several times in the past month as he thought about his days in Domino. He wondered if he'd see them again, and he wondered if he already had and hadn't recognized them.

When she heard who was going to be running Ikimono, she realized that she couldn't NOT apply for a job. After all, they had been rivals in the industry when they were kids, with him at the Kame Game Shop and her at Duke's Gaming World, but the both of them working together? That would be actually a pretty good thing.
Her hair was straighter then when she was in her school days, but her hair was still the same blue. Her eyes were a bit lighter, and she had more of a mature face, but other then that, Trance Cascada looked exactly the same.
She walked into the shop, and then she couldn't help but grin and walk to the counter. "Jesus... I thought it was just a rumor. Fai Miyama." She said bluntly.

Fai looked up from the counter when he heard someone speak his name. The voice sounded somewhat familiar, yet more mature and older. The woman who spoke also looked more mature, yet still the same as she did 12 years ago. He smiled at the sight of a familiar face, despite the blunt tone of the voice.
"Never thought a traveler such as myself would settle down like this, or did you think you'd never have to see my face again?" he asked. He hadn't exactly been the friendliest of people back then, and he had been in ill standings with many people. But that was 12 years ago, and he had put all that behind him for the most part.

Trance laughed. "Never known you to give the guilt trip Fai." She said teasingly. She winked. "I just never thought you'd settle down. If you try telling me there's a woman behind your settling down, I'd almost believe you at the moment." She leaned on the counter.
"I actually came here to apply for a job, and I find a Necklace. Imagine that." She said with a laugh.

The reason he settled down. He really didn't know himself, but it was only temporary until he decided to start traveling again. It definatly wasn't a woman to convinced him to stop traveling. Few women showed interest in him except for as a good duelist.
"A woman isn't the reason for my settling down. It can get hard traveling with only one good eye. As for the job application..." Fai said. He reached below the counter and pulled out a sheet of paper. He knew she used to work at Duke, but everyone had to fill one of these things out so they'd have contacts in case of emergencies and such.
Necklace... An old title of his that he had no more. He had returned his necklace to the museum after the incident in the ruins where he lost the vision in his left eye.

She took a click-pen out of her pocket and started filling it out right there on the spot. It gave a good impression to would-be employers.
"I suppose it would be hard, but the human mind usually makes adaptations." She said as she filled out her information. "What made you lose sight in the eye? I don't think I remember that from our old school days."

"It was after I left Domino to start traveling, about a year or to ago. I went on an expedition with some archeologists into some ruins near the heart of Egypt. At some point, I got separated from them and found myself in a hidden room. Whoever built the ruins were clever, because evading the first trap triggered the second trap. All I saw was a blinding flash to my left side and I was outside without the vision in my left eye." Fai explained, "I returned to Domino to return the necklace to the museum and started traveling again.
He leaned back in his chair and rested his head on his left hand and watched as she filled out the sheet.
"What about you? How has everyone been these past 12 years?" he asked.

Trance looked uncomfortable at that comment and she bowed her head.
"Sorry I asked." she mumbled. Then she heard his questions and chuckled.
"I don't know about everyone, but for me, I'm married now, and I've got two kids. One of them is a fourth year up at the Academy." she chuckled. "A blue... following in Momma's footsteps that boy." She said proudly. Her son looked like her wife, but he had a bit of a disconnected personality. That was ok though. Trance loved him anyway. "I kept in contact with Rei, Katsu and Linnis, and they're happy with their wives... Linnis teaches up at the Academy, Rei and Sara opened up a night club here which reminds me awfully of Natsuin's place back in Domino, and Katsu's got his own restaraunt." She said with a chuckle.

"Don't worry about it." Fai said when she apologized. It sounded like everyone was doing well and was happy with their lives. That was good to hear, and yet a few of his friends were still missing from the picture. Oh well, he felt that they would reappear soon as well. He felt kind of bad with himself at this point. He had refused contact with nearly everyone since he left until now. He didn't even know how well his own cousin was doing.
"Well, at least everyone is doing alight so far, as far as I know. Fai said.

Trance nodded and those piercing eyes examined his face carefully. After years of the Twilight Key, she had been able to associate personality and certain facial movements with different thoughts. It was an odd talent, but it kept Syaoran out of the cookie jar when he was younger.
"A lot of the people from the old days just disappeared into thin air." Trance said conversationally.

"Like me up until now? I left so suddenly, leaving my home and my job in Domino without a farewell to anyone. I still wonder what everyone's reaction was back then when I just suddenly disappeared overnight." Fai said. He closed his eyes and thought about the good times of the old days. Long gone times, but not much that happened to him back then was as exciting as his travels.

"Mostly of shock. We tried looking for you for a bit but then we realized that if you were in trouble, the other Necklaces and the Millenniums would figure out about it and pass along word." Trance said with a chuckle.

"I guess it's not an unexpected result." Fai said. He opened his eye and gave a deep sigh. It was true, but he probably wouldn't have notified the other holders even if he had been in a horrible situation. That was him back then, always wanting to work alone and refusing help as it came along unless he knew he needed it.
"So when can you start?" Fai asked as he watched Trance go down each line of the sheet.

The door opened as a new presence entered the store. Wearing his old Violet Trenchcoat, Shizuma walked in after hearing that there was a new gaming store. He figured he might as well check out the scene because he knew that his students may frequent here to get some new cards. However what he didn't expect to see was two of his old friends from the Academy.
"Well, well...Fai Miyama and Trance Fitzwallace....it has been too long." said Shizuma as he smiled.

Fai looked up from Trance's application and at Shizuma as he entered the store. He adjusted his eye patch since it had begun to slip too far down. He hadn't expected to see Shizuma here in the Unites States. He figured he would have stayed in Domino or went to the pros and made a living there. Well, whatever the reason, he was standing before Fai. He didn't look much different from 12 years ago.
"Indeed." Fai said, "It has been far too long and it's good to see you again. 12 years I believe. What brings you to San Melina?"

"Believe it or not I'm the new Dueling Professor here at the Academy. I came here to teach...and I see you are going into business for yourself now." Said Shizuma as he looked at Fai.
The Eye patch was a new thing to Shizuma but he just let it go for now. Meeting old friends like this was something he didn't expect and he was going to take advantage of. He was very happy to be seeing his old friends again.

A dueling professor? He should have expected as much from Shizuma, but it still caught him by surprise.
"It's good to here that you're getting along in life. Teaching suits you. As for me, it's really only temporary until this place has a good person to take my place and a large enough staff for when I leave again. Traveling is my profession and not much could change that. How are the others?" he asked. He wondered if Shizuma had kept in contact with anyone. If he had, it would be good to hear if the others were doing well.

"Thank you for the compliment, Fai. As far as the others are concerned you'll find that I'm not the only familiar face that's going to be a professor at the Academy. My sister, Mizuki is going to be teaching there too...I ran into her earlier...to say the least I was happy to see her again after being out of contact with her. And in case you are wondering..." said Shizuma as he held up his hand with his wedding ring on it. "Corrona and I did tie the knot."
Shizuma smiled as he knew that would be a surprise to both Fai and Trance. He wasn't sure if they expected him and Corrona to marry but the proof was on his finger.
"So Fai, how about you, keep up with anyone from school?"

He was surprised to hear Shizuma and Corrona had made it to the point of being married, but all he did was smile. Yes, it wasn't a bad thing to get married. Also, Mizuki was also here. It seemed like the old times were coming back upon them slowly.
"You should know the answer to that, my friend. I've either refused contact or haven't heard or seen anyone from back then for the whole 12 years we've been apart." Fai said. He had been traveling along for the whole time, except for the few expeditions he went on with archeologists. Even his duel spirits were gone. They had left and taken their residence in the Twilight Realm again.

"I see...well speaking speaking of old friends...you might be pleased to know that I didn't exactly come here on my own." said Shizuma as he figured he'd let the party in question intro themselves.
Next to Shizuma appeared none other than The Six Samurai - Nisashi. Nisashi smiled as he saw his old friend from Duel Academy. Shizuma knew that if the rumors were true that Nisashi would love to meet his old swordfighting buddy again. Nisashi stood there with his arms crossed while in his Armor.
"Long time no see, Fai." said Nisashi with a bow of greeting.
"I have to say, it is good to see that you've come back out to public again, Fai." said Shizuma after Nisashi gave his greeting.
