California was naturally a hot place by location on the globe but during the summer the weather was definately not pleasant. This was especially true for the abroad college student by the name of Espoir. "And here I thought that I should get used to California before I go to college. Thing is this place is so hot, I'll never get used to it," she complained as she tried to shade her eyes from the bright sunlight from above.
She sat on a random park bench, back against the armrest and legs across the rest of the seat. She generally tried to drown out the others around her. For what reason? Well with the thick looking book in her lap, one could assume she was reading it in the comfort of the park setting. Though thats only a random assumption.

DJ smiled as he walked through the park, finding the weather humid but pleasant, his black blazer was over his shoulder because of the heat, leaving him only in his undershirt and black school pants. He saw a group of flowers next to a bench and knelt down to pick them, if he could find a vase he might be able to brighten his new dorm room with some of them. He looked to his side and saw there was someone on the bench that he hadn't seen before. She looked busy so he decided not to bother her and just continued about his work, gathering a small bouquet.

Vox's exploration of the city eventually brought him to it's upper section. It was midday and the sun and heat was becoming increasingly troublesome, especially with Vox's heavy cloaked cloths and hood.
The Park, not somewhere Vox thought he would ever find himself; it seemed to be the only place with some shade, and Vox did his best work in the dark. He made his way over to one of the tall oak trees of the park and leaned against it, removing his hood. A rare sight indeed for someone who never wanted to be seen, but it seemed the heat was getting to him.

({Whoot! Two people at once! ^^;;})
At the same time, Espoir had taken the time to put the book over her face and somehow fell asleep with it still on her face. That was surely a spectical to see and probably not expected. Then again people that did know her knew that she had the tendency to go to sleep just about anywhere she got comfortable.

DJ smiled and finished his small bouquet, looking to the girl on the bench again. "Oh my..." he chuckled lightly realizing she seemed to be asleep. He knew this wasn't exactly the safest place to go to sleep, esspecially if she didn't wake up before nightime when everyone came out. He smiled light, she looked comfortable, like she had found a nice, warm, and comfortable place to sleep. "Are you alright miss?" He whispered softly, just in case she was in a deep sleep, he didn't want to disturb her if she was too comfortable.

Vox's trusty and only companion Folkan, his hawk, was seemingly becoming bored of simply circling around the area and landed on DJ's shoulder and began plucking the flowers he had gathered with it's beak. Vox sighed as he watched from the shade of the tree. Should he interfere with his pet's fun and risk being seen?

Unfortunately she was a light sleeper. She woke up but left the book on her face as if she didnt wake yet. She tried to pay attention to the noises around her. A boy's voice? Flapping? Okay so a boy was talking to her and a bird was nearby. Awesome. Wait, why was a boy talking to her? Asking if she was okay? "Hm?" was all she was able to say at the moment. She was still drowzy in a way.

DJ blinked as the hawk landed on his shoulder, he realized it must be someone's pet since the talon's didn't scratch him much. He yelped slightly as it peck his flowers. "Hey! Go home birdie, go home!' He shooed the bird quietly to avoid startling the girl. He picked another flower and gave it to the hawk. "Take this and go back to your owner." He then turned back to the girl. "Sorry miss, you fell asleep on the bench there and I was just making sure you were alright." he whispered.

The hawk circled around DJ for a while longer until called back by a high pitch whistle. "....My apologizes, I didn't mean for my pet here to disturb you." Vox's hood was back on as he stepped out of the tree's shadow and approached the two people, Folkan landing on his shoulder as he did.

Okay there were both addressing her now then? She moved the book off her face slightly so that it didnt cover her eyes anymore. "No, Im fine. Was I asleep and in impending trouble or something?" she asked cluelessly. The way they spoke almost made her think that they thought they did something wrong or of the like.

He blinked and watched her, finally seeing her face for the first time, she was quite pretty, but most of the girls he had seen around here were. "No, I'm sorry ma'am, I was just making sure you were alright, you never know when something might happen, esspecially out her like this." He shrugged softly and looked to the other. "It's alright, didn't bother me too much, just scared me is all, there are plenty of flowers." He chuckled and started his bouquet over.

Vox was easily left at a loss for words and this situation wasn't really an exception. He didn't have friends and didn't spend his time socializing, he wasn't sure what to say. Vox stood still and just looked at the two he had approached. He was a bounty hunter and a duelist, not a conversationalist. Showing himself definably wasn't one if his brightest ideas.

"Hm? Dont apologize. Thats very nice of you, so I guess thank you, kind sir," she said with a smile. She closed her book and sighed. "Puits qui était un somme gentil. Actually Im sorry to have made you worry," she said kindly. Two guys, one was nice and sociable the other seemed anti social. Oh well. "Im Espoir, by the way."

"it's no problem at all my dear." DJ smiled and extended a hand politely. "I'm DJ." He chuckled. "Pleasure to meet you Espoir."

She smiled softly as she shook his hand. She was getting more accustom to American customs and stuff. "The pleasure is mine. So what are the flowers for? They're very pretty, you have a good eye. Better than most guys I know," she joked in a sincere way.

DJ blushed and giggled, nodding humbly to the compliment. "Thank you very much. Decoration mostly, figured they'd go well with some things back at the academy." he shrugged softly.

"Huh? Academy? They still have schools running during the summer? Wierd..." she started saying aloud. Personally she didnt care if anyone heard her, just her random thoughts. "What kind of academy would that be?" she asked DJ as she sat up straight. She put her book on her lap and stretched her arms a bit. "If you dont mind me asking of course."

DJ smiled brightly, excited to be talking to someone new and interesting. "Not at all, I go to San Melina, the Dueling Academy near here. And yeah, it is a bit weird to run school during the summer but to counter the rush of other schools they start in June." He shrugged.

"Hm. Still weird to me," she stated with a small shrug. Ah well, guess things arent all that similar to what she was expecting. "A duel school though? Thats a strange concept. Why would someone go to school to learn how to duel?" Oh yes, behold the naive Espoir, who really didnt care all that much for card games.

He chuckled and nodded. "It is a bit odd a first, but just like any specialty or trade school, dueling schools help educated people to become professional duelist to make a living or simply because they love the game." He shrugged. "It seems weird if you aren't raised around it I guess."
