One of the things that satisfied Espoir in America that Europe didn't have was the hamburgers. Sure McDonalds was everywhere these days, but the bugers in america were somehow different than the ones in Europe. The place was crowded today, which was bad, the wait was long and there weren't any tables avalible.
Espoir got her food and sat down at an empty booth she managed to snatch. In front of her was a BigMac, an apple pie, a fruit parfait, and a large Coke. It would satisfy her hunger for now. She hadn't eaten since she got off that plane and she wasn't so pleased with the plane food that they offered her on the flight. She smiled as she clapped her hands once, "Alright! Time to dig in!"

McDonalds, a popular food chain around the American parts at most. It had always made Hiro curious hearing all the rumors. At first he would consider some other place that served fast food, but the only thing that was popular was the Kentucky Fried Chicken that he heard about so much and another one called Burger King which had commercials that were disturbing to know a guy would wake up in your bed or pop out of no where with a Hamburger on a platter. McDonalds was more, “reasonable” in his point.
As he stood waiting for his food, he had took it slow. He didn’t order much or nothing too fatty. A usual for him would be some kind of hot food, mostly in this point was a spicy chicken sandwich with a side of Sweat Tea for a zesty taste in his mouth. He had started to pass by a girl as his Duel Academy uniform’s tail had swayed in the breeze at the speed he walked, but seeing the way she clapped her hands before eating seemed to be of Japanese tradition, which most likely meant she was from the same place.
“Excuse me…” Hiro had asked as he stared down towards the girl with his usual straight face as he seemed almost caught by the sudden action. “You’re not from around these parts, are you?” he had asked.

Espoir looked up with a puzzled expression on her face. Was it that obvious? "Well... no Im not," was her response. Okay then... random question asked by a random guy. Lets ask something random to see what she could get from it. "‚»‚ê‚ÍŽÀÛ‚É‚»‚Ì–¾‚ç‚©‚Å‚µ‚½‚©B" she said with an added smile. She was not aware at all of her slip of the tounge, speaking Japanese instead of English but then again, she was more or less a simple girl.
({Im mad that the site or my web browser or whatever cant support katakana. But whatever, she asked "Was it really that obvious})

Hiro had closed his eyes as he let his head tilt down feeling awkward that he barely understood her. Seeing that he was an orphan, he only understood basic English. It was strange since he was Japanese by blood. If only he hadn’t ended up here that fateful day. Then again, he can’t even remember that day. The truth about his birth was a haze, but if he knew one thing, he wasn’t normal as he always felt something was conflicting on the inside.
“Sorry…” he had begun to say with that weak smile on his face. “I didn’t understand you clearly. This is an embarrassment for me since it’s supposed to be my native tongue.” he had said as he sat the bag he had down on the table in front of the girl as he stood there running his fingers of his right hand through his hair and placing his palm on his forehead in a bit of shame.

"Huh? You're speaking english clearly to me. I asked if my heritage was really that obvious," she said as if awkwardness had taken physical form of an arrow and shot straight through her. She still had no idea she was speaking different languages the majority of the time. Then again, she was naive yet at the same time intellegent. Why did that seem like such a bad combination?

Hiro had slipped his hand from his noggin as he had tucked it in his pocket. With that, he eased his way into a seat in front of the girl. “Well, sorry. It’s because I was born here that I understand English so well, but yet I’m Japanese. I was a orphan here since I was a baby. Who my mother is or my father, or any relatives for that matter….I just don’t know.” he had explained. It was bothersome. It was like he had fallen from the out of no where and was born from nothing. It felt terrible to know someone was brought into the world without a clue to go on. It was just a shame someone in his stature was just that case.

She sighed, "If it makes you feel better, I never knew my parents. Had my godparents though, they were fun people. Dont really know my herritage, I don't know where I was born or the ethnicity of my birth parents. But I guess it doesnt really matter right now." She shrugged before taking a bite of her BigMac. Yeah, so much better than the ones in Europe.

Hiro had given another weak smile hearing her. "It's nice of you to help, but I don't think hearing other's misfortunes would make me feel better." He had pointed out. He hadn’t really thought about his lunch before he slumped into his depressing thoughts once again, but he needed to take his mind off the matter. Reaching towards the bag as he leaned back in his seat, he had simply taken out a fry as he bit off only a piece and given it a chew and swallow as he observed the girl hearing her comment. “So, you’re a traveler, right?” he had asked since it seemed like she got around seeing she was from Europe.

"Not exactly. My parents technically are, from what I heard about them, but Im not. Just an exchange student," she stated calmly. She shrugged once again. She wasnt a high school student but actually a college student. And she wasnt exactly an exchange student but just a student studying abroad on scholarship. She just didnt know how to word that.

"Well...this place is okay. It has it's ups and downs. You just to keep your mind on the positives." Hiro had explained calmly as he gazed past the girl and towards the streets. He noticed a number of people who were walking down the sidewalk. Everyday there was something different with them, and at the most, you never know who’s life you would tie into. It was a small world, and it was so small that things would happen that would involve almost every to any life at random. “”Does strange things happen where you come from, or is it actually the paradise people here imagine it to be?” he asked.

"Not a paradise. Its really formal, so the customs there are kinda different from here. I dont know what you mean when you say strange things though," she stated as she continued to eat her meal. She didnt believe in anything supernatural. She believed in logic and intellegence. Strange might have a different meaning to her then it did to someone else.

Hiro had sighed as he had sat back and stared outside of the window. “Well…it’s probably nothing. It’s just I see a lot of things happening with this card game and stuff. I heard it’s even more popular in Japan and now that it reached the U.S., it’s like things are all strange at the school I go to. I think I see dead people or monsters or something.” he had said remembering the drifting spirits of the card deck. “It’s weird. I know cards don’t come to life or anything, so it’s only me being a nut as everyone says.”

"Card game? Spirits? Thats wierd. Im not that interested in games so Im not sure whether to think this is just paranoia or if its believable," she commented. Actually she just really wasnt interested in card games. Normal games she was fine with.
Then she thought about her research she did back in high school before saying something again, "I heard of the hologram technology though so what you're saying can be believeable." Yes she was that naive and dense. Then again she didnt believe in the supernatural either.

Hiro simply didn’t comment on it what so ever. He had some belief that it went beyond holograms and a couple of systems, but then again that would just be plain redundant. He had started to think if she thought there was no such thing as supernatural, then maybe it was not common knowledge, or maybe it was just non existent at all. He was starting to fall in denial if he was thinking this, but at least it was safe thinking for now.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Sorry, but I’m not one that’s too good with talking to people.” he had admitted as he tipped over his bag and slid out the wrapped spicy chicken sandwich that he had ordered.

Espoir had a quick reaction time. She caught the sandwich and sighed, "Be more careful. Vous s'il vous plait?" she said with a smile. Yes the incredibly naive girl was athletic and smart as well. Funny combination. She put the sandwich in front of him and nodded. "And I don't mind. I mean, you were the one that started talking to me after all. Thats a good thing when trying to learn to be more social." Oh yes, very naive girl.

As she had caught the sandwich, he was surprised at quick how she reacted. Sure he was athletic since he knew self defense on a high level, but even for something as simple as a sandwich catch, her timing was impeccable. He didn’t however show any amazement, but he did look at her a bit surprised with a glance the moment he saw her hand move. Smiling as he reached, he slid the food to his side.
”Thank you.” He had said as he slid it to his side while listening to her. Sure he was anti-social at the most, but the only reason he even spoke to her was by curiosity. ”I was really trying to get to know people from Japan since I haven‘t gone there, but I didn‘t expect to be talking for so long. It‘s kind of strange to me at how I even gotten this far in conversation with anyone.” he had noted since in truth, he was often acting rude towards most people since he couldn’t stand them in general.

"Well surprises are a good thing," she responded. She finished off her BigMac and quickly followed it up with a sip of her Pepsi. She exhaled after her sip and looked back to the man. "Oh. I never did get your name did I? Im Espoir, gentil de vous rencontrer," she said as she let out her hand to shake. That was customary when meeting new people in America, right?

A name…if anything, it was the last thing Hiro wanted to give seeing that his was funny to him. Even though his name was similar to that of an actual Hiro and ironically his deck type revolved around just that, he was anything but a hero. He was more like a jerk of all trades since he’d snap with his anti-justice, but he’d have a thing against “nice guys” since the optimism of some bother him seeing he is miserable enough. He sometimes think he was born to be the world’s clown, so thinking that would only make him think he had to prove he was no one’s clown.
For now…he had only wanted to try this thing with people. ”They call me Hiro…” he had said reaching out grasping her hand as he shook it.

"Well its nice to meet you," she said with a smile. She clearly didnt get the reference of his name. After shaking hands, she reached for her fruit parfait and started to eat it slowly to enjoy its taste. It was strange, the fruit parfaits in Europe tastes better than the ones in America. "So, do you go out to eat often?"
