Personality:
Matt looks much like he did when he attended duel academy, with the same hair color and build. The min difference is that his yes have turned a deep golden color, and the pupils have grown to resemble a feline's eye no. He grew an inches, now weighing up to 176lbs. Underneath the silvery blue cloak, Matt wears a white sleeveless shirt underneath a regal looking shirt of the same color of the cloak. His pants are also the same color of the cloak. His gloves and boots are a deep navy blue color with silver linings.
Matt has remained much the same over the years; quiet, cold, and antisocial. He was like this for a few years, until he met Farah. After a while of traveling with her, he changed. He became much kinder and empathetic. The change solidified when they had their child, Rush.History:
When Farah died, his quiet nature returned, though the kindness remained behind. He has become more calm and calculating.
When Matt was just 7, a dark version of himself took over, and sent his family to the shadow realm. He made Matt think it was his fault, causing Matt to place the full blame on himself. Afterwards, Matt fell unconcious. He woke up a couple hours later in a hospital bed with his uncle and cousin, Luke, beside him. They had told him how they found him alone with no one at his home, and that he would be living with them.Status: Card Shop Owner
Matt gave himself the alias, Matt, so he would forget his past and went to live with his last surviving family, his uncle, Mitch, and his cousin, Luke. They didn't know it was he who murdered his parents, and Matt didn't tell them. He forced himself to live in as much seclusion as possible, although over time he became less and less secluded. His uncle put this through school and martial arts classes, in case "the murderer came to finish what he started". He was also put through a very tough sword training, which made him a semi-master of the sword. He swore never to use his blade to harm people, and practices whenever he gets the chance.
At the age of 13, Matt started playing duel monsters to pass the time. His uncle told him to raise his own money to buy his own cards, eve though his Uncle had more than enough money. This left Matt nearly cardless, and he was forced to play with his friends' decks. A year later, he entered a school tournament and won, which earned him a bit of respect. A few days after he won, a package arrived for him, containing a deck. The deck revolved around Evil Heros, and it became Matt's first true deck. He used the deck until he was 15, when he started using archfiends instead.
At around age 17, Matt was told to go to duel academy to learn how do duel much more effectively. He set out to Domino for the exams and finally arrived in the city several hours later later. He passed his exam with flying colors, and went on to be a Ra Yellow.
Matt joined the Grand Prix Tournament to test his own skills in dueling at the academy. After 4 or 5 won duels, he advanced to the finals. There he faced off against Angel Date, and after a close match, he won. He was advanced to Obelisk Blue because of it. Afterward, he joined the staff at Grandpa's Card Shop, to learn how to stand on his own two feet. It all stayed normal for a while.
He soon felt a yearning to find his parents again, who were in the shadow realm for unknown reasons. He searched the academy, but it was for naught. Desperate, he began looking in Egypt. He went as far as to sneak deep into the Pharaoh's tomb for answers on how to get in and out the Shadow Realm.
Week passed as he searched the tomb, and was ready to give up when he found a hidden room. The room where the Pharaoh himself laid at rest. When he still found no answers, he gave up. To his luck, a man appeared before him.
The man was Natsuin, a mysterious one at best. He told Matt that he could take him to the shadow realm for a short period of time as long as he kept the meeting a secret between them. Matt agreed, and he was transported to the shadow realm.
There, he found a string, the "life string" as he dubbed it. It would lead him to his parents, or so Natsuin said. Matt followed the string, and after a little while, the string turned red. Natsuin told Matt that it was a bad sign for his parents.
Matt dropped the search, fearing what he would find if he continued. Natsuin told Matt that if Matt graduated from duel academy, he would take Matt to see his parents again. Matt was then teleported out of the Shadow Realm to the academy. Again, everything went back to normal.
It wasn't long after that Matt started working harder to graduate. He took the Violet test twice, but failed both times. He became more secluded from others, and worked silently towards his goal. As he kept researching the Shadow Realm, he learned something that cut his search in two.
He recently became a part of the Myreque, under Vahn's request. He was given leadership over one of the branches. Soon after, he took his third Horuaketi Violet test and passed with flying colors. Vahn, having been stripped of his rank by his dueling master, gave leadership of the Myreque to Matt, temporarily.
A very boring month passed by. Matt showed his own lack of leadership skills as the Myreque nearly collapsed under his lead. Seeing how badly it was going, Mat passed the leadership unto Lorlei, Vahn's master. He tried leaving the Myreque, but Vahn convinced him to stay.
He graduated from DA a few weeks later and became a traveling duelist. He worked alone after he left the academy for a while, but decided he could get much done. All he got done was that he convinced himself that he could not escape from his past, and that his darkness was getting restless again. When he went back to the Myreque and to the Island, he found Marvelo and Mizuki in a Twilight Duel. When Mizuki was ejected back into the Dawn Realm, Matt took her to the Infirmary.
A massive storm hit on the way to the infirmary. As soon as he dropped Mizuki off, he left the Island and Domino City for good. Matt could not help any more, so he left to make his dreams a reality. Since he was a pro duelist, he got free traveling. Using this, he began traveling all around the world, trying to forget the events he had been previously entangled in.
He spent the better part of two years traveling alone, attending tournaments and using the prize money to support his own travels. At the end of this two year period, Matt participated in the Cyclone Tournament in Miami, Florida. During the tournament, he faced off against another pro duelist names Farah Pendragon. He defeated her to take first place in the tournament, and was awarded with a Golden Cyclone dual disk.
With her loss though, Farah did not have the money she needed to travel, so she asked Matt to let her travel with him. He agreed (For unknown reasons), and Matt and Farah began their travels together. They traveled wherever there was a tournament, either participating or spectating. Somewhere along the line, the two got married.
[See Rush's History]
After his child was born, Matt continued traveling to make money to support his family. Farah settled down with Rush on the outskirts of Domino. He won many of the tournaments and bought many gifts for his son, whom he loved greatly. At one point, he even gave a silver duel disk to Rush. He was eventually asked to take part in a tomb expedition in Egypt. He agreed and went, hoping to earn more money for his family.
During the expedition, he fell into an ancient trap which resulted in the loss of sight in his left eye and his hospitalization due to coma. He was like this for a few months, and when he woke up, he could see far better from his right eye, though his left eye was blind.
When he returned, he found that Farah had died from illness and that Rush was living alone. He grieved for a bit, but soon moved to San Melina with Rush. He took management of a card shop, taking care of Rush. After about a month, he took an extended leave do that he could do some personal things and set Rush up to attend the local academy.
Additional Information:
His eyes have turned a deep shade of yellow since he lost sight in his left eye. His pupils seem almost cat-like if one looks closely enough.
