Kaia is an arrogant,, cruel and ruthless CEO who runs his company with an iron fist. Cold and calculating, Kaia measures everything by it’s usefulness, even people. To him, workers, and people in general are nothing more then resources, tools to be used, and a person’s worth depends on how useful and skilled they are. Technocratic and elitists, Kaia believes that only those on top have any worth and that those who are beneath him are there because they are weak or useless. Kaia sees all humans as objects and tools to be used, and has no issues with doing horrible things to others so he can gain power.

Despite Kaia’s rather cold exterior, he is actually has powerful emotions that drive him to do the things he dose. One of these is his ambition and lust for power. Kaia will do anything and everything in the pursuit of greater power and influence, and won’t let anybody stand in his way. Kaia in fact believes that power is the only thing in the world worth perusing, after all, without power; you mean nothing, at least in his eyes. Thus, his main goal is to seek power and influence at any cost, and he has no problem stepping on top of countless people to get what he wants.

Beyond his lust for power, another defining characteristic of Kaia is his anger. While he tries to be rational and calculating, Kaia is a hateful person who holds grudges forever. He’s not the kind to fly off into an explosive rage, but rather he’s the kind to feel a deep seething hate that lingers and lasts a lifetime, and indeed, from his childhood, the hate he had for his family has stayed with him and driven him to become more powerful then his father ever was. This is Kaia’s personal quest, to best his father and become the most powerful person in the world.

However, despite Kaia’s darker side, he dose have some good qualities. For one, he’s an extremely effective businessman and highly intelligent to boot. His ruthlessness and intellect make him a skilled CEO and he has in fact brought more profit to the company then his father ever could. Second of all, he himself is quite creative and talented. Despite his position as CEO, Kaia often takes part in the card making process himself and due to his love of monsters and fantasy, has drawn a good portion of the card arts in the game. Most of the monsters in the game in fact come from Kaia’s imagination, which is rather twisted and dark, to say the least.

History:

Kaia was not always the CEO of Vector Industries. That spot once belonged to his father, Simon Mordrake. Simon Mordrake was known world wide as the one who changed the world with the creation of Duel Monsters. The game swept the world by storm, becoming so popular that it entire cities and even nations had economies based around the game. Even world leaders would occasionally use it to settle their disputes. The game had gone to the top of the world, and VECTOR Industries was at the top. While Simon was a well loved man in the public eye, in reality that was far from the case. He was a ruthless individual, a wife beater and an overall nasty man who believed that power and money where the only things that mattered in life.

However, as he aged, he needed an heir to his empire, somebody to mold in his image, and soon his wife would give him just that. Kaia’s birth was in itself a reflection of his life. His mother died in childbirth. Thus, Simon was left to rase the boy on his own, and that’s just what the monstrous man desired. From a young age he molded Kaia to his ways, teaching him how to be ruthless and powerful. He capitalized on his son’s intelligence and skill and pushed him to the edge educationally.. As time went on, Kaia learned to hate his father and hate him with a passion. He became driven to outdo the evil man and become more powerful then him, so he could be the one on top and his father could be the one on the receiving end

Soon, Kaia would achieve his goal. As a gift to his “heir,” Simon gave him less then half of the company’s shares, but enough to make him on equal footing with the other major shareholders in the company. Kaia use this to his advantage. He met with the other shareholders and was able to successfully point out how Simon’s lavish spending on frivolous things, inability to balance the company budget and printing of overpowered cards was causing the company to lose money, and that D-ENT was seeking to buy them out and control all of Duel Monsters. The other shareholders agreed with Kaia, and they agreed to give control of their shares to him so he could oust the incompetent Simon Mordrake from power.

Simon was shocked at his son’s ruthlessness and ability. He was angered and surprised, surprised that the monster he had created turned against him. When Kaia confronted him and told him that he now controlled the company, his father killed himself by jumping out of the window behind him. Kaia felt nothing for his father, he had what he wanted, and now he would bring the company back to it’s former glory and make it better then before. That is just what he did as well, he made the company more powerful then it ever was and enhanced the game of duel monsters. Kaia is on top of the world, and loving every minute of it.
