A dance was being performed behind a rock under the light of the rising moon by a girl of serenity. Her dance steps took her through the edge of the water with large ripples disturbing the surface. It was a girl dancing to the music of her own heartbeat and of the waters around her.
To say that Desirae LeMort was a little odd wouldn't stretch the imagination at all. She was a very compulsive young woman of fifteen and though she didn't raise her voice at all and she wasn't all that hyper, Desirae would sometimes do the little odd things like break out into enthusiastic humming or snapping of her fingers. It was an odd habit that she would probably break out of eventually but for now, that was just Desirae.
The girl had a light red ribbon holding back one side of her violet hair. Her hair was a deep violet which was almost black in colour. Oddly enough it had been a genetic trait and she had had violet hair since her birth. Another odd thing about the girl born in the country of love, France.
Her eyes were dark blue orbs of delight when they opened, reflecting the moon in their dark wells. The stars set the eyes glittering as she looked up at the starry skies. A joyous laugh, like the sound of a singing lark went through the skies.
She danced and danced her way around, trying many interpretive dances, some of the very erotic variety. This was also enhanced by the fact that she wore nothing but a blue halter top, black tight-fitting leotard shorts and a sarong skirt that was white. Her feet were bare and white against the moon.
But this serenity was to be interrupted momentarily, for no one could be this lovely and have no faults.
"WHAAAAA!!!" The girl tripped over a rock on the ground and she went into the water with a huge crash, making even bigger ripples then when her feet had been grazing the ocean in their delight. She was soaked from head to toe but she thought for a moment. And since she was so wet, hey? Why not stay there?
She smiled and kicked off using her feet, now floating in the water. The ocean's light tide, which was manipulated by the moon's gravitational pull she knew was rocking her gently back and forth, back and forth, like her own personal cradle and she was the child within it.
To dream of this romantic situation was a very nice thought and feeling. Now all the perfect situation needed was the perfect man or woman. Desirae couldn't care which. A friend or a lover, it didn't matter to her... but which was the friend and which was the lover? The man or the woman?
Well, again it didn't matter to Desi, as some of the people who knew her called her. Love was love, and whether it came in the form of a reproductive organ that could insert or be inserted into, she couldn't care.
But that seems rather blunt for a story of romantic ideals.
For surely, that was what this story would turn into, woudn't it? She would go to this Academy for a few years, find love, get married, have lots of kids and live happily ever after, would she not?
Alas, that was not necessarily meant to be. After all, a girl once said, "When the conflict of life leaves your life, there's nothing more to live for. That will be the only time when I will truly want to leave this world, when there's peace, because I know that my job is done."
The odd girl did the backstroke and frontstroke and went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. She didn't have to fight against the waves today. But she never had to fight against the water. The water was her friend. Old Man had told her that after all. Her affinity was Water - her sign was Pisces. She was the fish... but whether she was a fish out of water remained to be seen.

The night was young and classes were done as far as he knew today. So he decided to take some time and relax out by the Shoreline. Astennu's jacket fluttered in the sea's light breeze as he walked. However he was not alone at this hour in spite of what most saw. He was being accompanied by the duel spirits of the three Servant monsters that followed him as his guides. At his right was Archer and to his left were Saber and Rider.
"A beautiful evening no? Reminds me of back home." said Rider with a smile.
"Indeed...it appears that the Dawn Realm has beautiful sunsets as well." said Saber as she walked along.
"Well at least something is nice out here. We shall have to get used to it if we are going to guide this guy." said Archer as he walked with his arms crossed.
"Take it easy, you guys. You'll find that my world isn't that bad. You know...I think I might do this more often...the view of the ocean is wonderful at this time of night." said Astennu as he walked along.
It was then as he looked along the waves that he saw someone taking pleasure in treading the ocean's waves. Whoever it was seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. Astennu stopped and just watched as this person swam along. The Servants also stopped as they looked out towards the ocean as well...weather or not they were looking at the swimmer or not was to be determined.

"Get away." The voice was small but mighty in implication of exactly what would happen should the instructions the voice gave out wasn't followed. Such a voice could take command of armies, with the charisma of Alexander the Great himself. However this was not to be... as the body was less then adequate for command.
It was a penguin who was behind the three spirits who had a sword of iron, with a hilt made of the purest bronze and stained to a rusty tone of perfection. Shoulder pads of plate adorned his shoulders, with a reddish hue and gold lining around the red. He was a navy and violet penguin with piercing cold blue eyes and a glint that showed that he was ready to beat back anyone. His small penguin body had a stomach of light lilac colour and webbed clawed feet. A tuft of his feathers stuck up on his head and one flipper was at his side while the other pointed his sword.
"Do not disturb her, or you will live to regret it."
"Oh my. Penguin Soldier, were you ever taught manners at that hellhole you call a war camp?" A delicate flower of a woman with a turban and Middle Eastern clothing was walking towards the penguin and she placed one delicate hand on the penguin's head. Her eyes were the same blue hue as the penguin's, but they did not seem as kind as her voice. In fact, they were narrowed. It didn't help matters that her face was covered by a light blue cloth and so it was impossible to tell her true intentions by her features. As a matter of fact, to know the Crystal Seer's true intentions was to be eternally wise, for not even the Crystal Seer knew exactly what her own intentions were sometimes. Her eyebrows raised in greeting as she bowed her head and bowed a bit.
"Forgive my dear penguin's actions. He's just a touch protective of that girl out in the water." She looked towards the girl that she called friend, ally, charge and master, that girl of innocence and life, much like a little stream just born from an ocean's eroding presence on the land. She turned her gaze back to the boy and bowed. "As I'm sure your spirits are of you, young sir."
"Quit wasting air soldier, you're on duty. I don't want to hear another word until we get back to base!" The penguin barked as he retreated in the direction of the water. His waddle made him even more comical and not a serious threat, but then he got out into the water and started swimming of a sorts through it with a power that would suit the emperor penguins of the Antarctic waters.
The Crystal Seer looked towards the flippered bird and her eyes lost some of that perpetual sharpness. "Good Mahavishnu." She seemed to curse, but the god would be unknown to anyone who didn't know her descent and heritage. She bowed again. "I apologize again."
((Well Kat, I can roleplay a Duel Spirit as well as you can I think. How did I do for the first time? I took that recommendation of only two to start with.))

"It is alright, Seer. We are as protective of Astennu, so it is understandable." said Saber in her normal all business tone. "Judging by your reactions, that woman out there is your chosen partner. Protectiveness is understandable."
"Heh...at least we didn't have to do battle...I wouldn't have liked to have forcefully sent fellow spirits back to our world on a night like this. However, this little soldier might want to relax, there may be other spirits who will not be as forgiving as we are." said Archer as he looked at the Pair of Water Spirits.
"Oh, cool it, Archer. The crisis was averted and we are meeting the guardians of another human just like we are Astennu's back up. You know now that I'm seeing the penguin go for a swim...I'm almost tempted to go out there myself." said Rider with a smirk.
Astennu shook his head as he listened to the spirits. He had gotten two unexpected bits of information about the mystery person out there. One she was a girl, and two she had two duel spirits, one being Penguin Soldier, and the other being the mysterious Crystal Seer. Looking at Crystal Seer, Astennu nodded realizing the situation for what it was.
"It is alright, Crystal Seer. I had come out here for some relaxation time before the end of the evening. To be honest I wasn't expecting to meet other people or spirits out here. But it is nice to know that there are others out here who also have the sight. It's hard sometimes just to talk to people who don't have the sight when these three are around." said Astennu as he motioned to the Servants. "And don't worry about apologizing...I'm certain the servants would have done the same if I were in a similar position and wanted to be alone."

"Oh... knowing my dear Desirae, I doubt she wanted to be alone." The Crystal Seer said with her eyes, now turning kind and gentle, gazing on to the beautiful violet haired girl that was walking up from the water completely soaked but a huge grin on her face. The soldier beside her was guarding her like a bodyguard with an angry expression.
"Oh! You were right!" The French-turned-American girl said with a song-like laugh. She let her eyes trail over to the boy in front of her and she examined him for a second before the smile came back onto her face. "Penguin Soldier, you really shouldn't do things like that, he looks like a friend to me!"
"Miss, you really need to learn protective measures. Your first lesson is that you don't trust everything you see in front of you. Anyone could be an enemy."
The girl shook her head with her violet hair seeming to float from side to side. "Mon dieu, mon ami. Tu es impossible."
"Don't speak that dang foriegner language with me! English or nothing at all!" The penguin barked. He jumped up and down in the air squawking in anger and protest. "For all I know, you just called me a roasted turkey!"
"Mon dieu..." The delicate young girl walked up to the boy in front of her and she examined him along the way. He actually looked quite cute in this light. She raised one hand in greeting.
"Hiya! Sorry about that!" Desirae said with a light and cheery voice. The sopping wet woman, who was dressed just enough to cover and not much else seemed to have no shame at all of this. In fact, she didn't seem to know shame at all. "These guys get pretty aggressive. They're pains sometimes about that. I can't make any friends with these twits, I swear." She looked at the spirits and nodded her head. "Sorry to you guys too. My name's Desirae LeMort. What's yours?" She asked as she put her hands behind her back in a cute way and smiled a cute smile.
Ah yes. Shy and consequential meetings underneath the beautiful moon. What better way to start a tale then that?

"It's alright, Desirae. Saber can be a bit on the protective side as well, so I can understand the issue at times. It's nice to meet you, Desirae, my name is Astennu...Astennu Kephri." said Astennu as he looked at her with a smile.
Astennu tried to hold back a light blush that he was having due to the current state of dress that Desirae was in. It seemed that she didn't care much if her clothes got wet and now the wet clothing seemed to be attached to her, accentuating her form. The violet haired girl was beautiful, there was no room for doubt in Astennu's mind.
"It is quite alright, Lady LeMort. I am Saber." said Saber with a light bow.
"Name's Rider, nice to meet you." said Rider with a smile and a wave.
"You may call me Archer." said Archer as he nodded at Desirae.
Astennu kept his eyes on Desirae as the Servant's introduced themselves...this was one heck of a way to have a first meeting in Astennu's Eyes. As he awaited her response, Archer looked at the penguin and said.
"I wouldn't worry so much about him being an Enemy. I doubt that someone like Saber would follow a guy like Astennu if he were a Danger to your partner right now. You might as well cool your jets, and let things play out."

"Cool your own jets buddy-"
"Soldier!" Desirae protested with a bit of a whine. "Please!" She looked pained and troubled at the thought of her Duel Spirit being so hostile. Why? Why couldn't they just have fun? Did he have to be so uptight? The Crystal Seer would be sick of putting up with him eventually and then what would he do? She supposed the only reason why Penguin Soldier was so protective was because she was precious to him, but did he have to reflect and shun everyone? It was just like his card. Did he have to send everyone on the field of the game back to the hand?
Her torso turned back to the other Duel Spirits and she smiled. She put one hand on her hip and the other one waved merrily towards them. "Hiya!" Then her gaze went back to the cute boy that was their human counterpart. He was nice to look at really... though he seemed to be turning a bit pink. What was wrong?
"Are you sick? You don't look well." Desirae said. Her concern was reflected in her body stance and her voice. Her gaze went all over Astennu looking for the problem but she couldn't spot any. All he was doing was... turning red. Was it something he ate? Perhaps he had a fever?
Crystal Seer cleared her throat a bit and looked at her human counterpart. "No... I don't think he's sick Miss..." She dictated. Her eyes seemed to lighten a bit as they looked on at her like a mother looking on at a silly child.
"Then why is he turning red? Isn't that the sign of a fever or something?"
"Well..." The Crystal Seer thought for a moment and then winked at the human boy. "My advice to cure it is for you not to go swimming so much Miss."
Desirae's head tilted to the side in confusion. "Quand?" She asked in French, with the tone of 'What are you talking about?'
"Never mind Miss... never mind."

Astennu sighed as he took a breath to let his face lose the red that it was gathering. He wasn't sure if he should just be honest with her about it or if he should attempt to play it off. She seemed very innocent and it almost seemed wrong of him to have even looked at her body as he did. But at this point he decided to listen to the part of him that seemed to draw Saber to him. He decided that it would be best to be honest about it...but in a way that was tasteful.
"Crystal Seer is right, I am not sick, Desirae. I was red in the face because you caused me to blush a little. To be honest, you look beautiful." said Astennu as he said his peace.
He did find her beautiful he just hoped that she and her spirits wouldn't go into a big uproar over his choice of honesty at the moment. Astennu did think she was beautiful, and the moonlight only served to enhance it.
The Three Servants were standing there each reacting differently to what Astennu just said. Archer seemed to be indifferent as usual. Rider...it was hard to tell because of her mask but she did have a smile on her face. Saber looked at the scene carefully as she watched Astennu...while she did approve of his honesty...she wasn't sure that this was the right time for it.

Crystal Seer smiled at Penguin Soldier with a knowing smile. Her smile said many things. It said 'She's growing up.'. It said 'He's doesn't know what to do.'. It said 'Well... told you so.'. But most of all it was like a mother looking at the father of her child and feeling a feeling of accomplishment about their child. For that was what the spirits were. The child in front of them had no parents and so these spirits along with the four men who raised her had acted as her parents.
Meanwhile Penguin Soldier's expression was the opposite. It had the look of a father who wanted desperately to say 'Get away from my daughter before I go for the shotgun.'. Were he human, he would've been the man at the table when the boyfriend came around to pick up the daughter. Either that or the man who drove them around to places and purposely rode quickly over railroad tracks to slam the poor young lad's head into the ceiling of the car. That was just the protectiveness of Penguin Soldier. He opened his beak to protest.
The Crystal Seer quickly stamped on his flipper with enough force to break a couple of bones.
"OW! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU SOLDIER!" The penguin roared and he went to smacking Crystal Seer hard with one flipper.
"You deserved it."
"YOU LITTLE PIECE OF-"
As the spirits fought in the background, Desirae was delightedly shocked at the boy's response. It wasn't something she expected but she rather liked the comment about her. She recognized that she looked reasonably good but no man had called her beautiful before. Her eyes glittered and she laughed again with the sound of songbirds in her ringing laugh.
"Thank you!" She said cheerfully. She came closer to Astennu.
"So! What dorm are you in Astennu?" She seemed to ignore the advance Astennu had just made and instead talked to him like a friend rather then what he was implying. It was nice to have a friend for once. She had to be very closed most of the time.

Astennu breathed a silent sigh of relief as she continued in the manner she did. And was thankful that Crystal Seer was keeping the Penguin on a leash before the Servants had to stop him.
"I'm a Third Year, Desirae. I came to the Academy two years ago and I've been taking this time to master my skills and meet new people. How about you? What year are you?" asked Astennu as he seemed to calm down a bit more as he spoke as he normally would with friends.
While they conversed, Saber, Archer and Rider all walked over to Seer and the Soldier as Saber Asked.
"Do you require any assistance in calming him down?"

"I AM CALM!" Penguin Soldier snapped. His face was as red as a tomato and he looked a touch like he had to cut down on the red meat. His complection was now taking on a purple hue that was lighter and redder then his feathers and he squawked and flapped his flippers in anger. "What the hell does she think she's doing, associating with that-"
The Crystal Seer sighed and she raised her long fingered hands. An orb of water started constructing itself in a swirling pit of waters and it took on the form of a sphere. Then she released the magical water right over Penguin Soldier's head.
The penguin spluttered and squawked in protest as he ran around Crystal Seer in a fury of feathers and flippers. He waddled swiftly with his eyes closed and his beak flapping up and down as he coughed.
She nodded at Saber. "No, I do believe I have him." She replied.
"I'm a third year as well to tell the truth. I'm only fifteen so I got stuck in there." She smiled and winked. "But as for the reason why I came to the Academy, well..." She shrugged. "That's a secret only I know."

"Very well. I'm glad to see you have things in hand, Seer." said Saber with a light smile on her face as she watched the antics of the crazed penguin.
Astennu smiled as she made her comment. Some things were meant to be secret until you were ready to tell someone. He wouldn't pry into her reasons for coming at this point he was happy just getting to know her.
"15? Wow, I just turned 16 not too long ago to be honest. It was also around the time I met the Servants." said Astennu as he smiled. "So, judging by the Spirits around you...do you duel with a Water Deck?"
It was a fair question too ask at this point. They were duelists after all...at least it seemed that way. The night was beautiful and at this point, Astennu was glad he came out here. He was getting the chance to meet someone like Desirae.

"I'm used to him... we came to Desirae's side when she was five years old. She needed our help because she was caught in a house fire and we helped her escape. I don't think I've ever seen Penguin Soldier as kind as he was to that little girl..." Crystal Seer's eyes softened as she looked at the enraged Penguin Soldier. "He's quite a bristly little bird, but his heart is in the right place. After we helped her escape from the house and she figured out that her parents had died in there, she cried and cried and Penguin Soldier talked to her non-stop to try to get her to calm down. His heart's in the right place... his beak isn't though."
She looked up at the moonlight and her heart seemed to surge. Yes, she did run a Water deck, because her spirit was like that of the water. Most of the time she was calm and she ran smoothly, like a bubbling stream racing towards a lake or like an ocean calmly lapping against a rock. She was the ocean that lapped against the rock in fact, slowly eroding away whatever shield that rock had. It was a talent that she had.
"Yes, I do run a Water deck." She smiled her glittering smile. "I find them highly underestimated sometimes. A Water Beatdown can sometimes be just as effective as the Six Samurai as long as you play and design it right. The Samurai have a habit of sticking together and looking out for each other and flooding the battlefield, but the Water can flood as well and they came up with the meaning of flood." She seemed wise as she said this with an ultimate wisdom far beyond her years glowing off her... then she looked on in delight.
"What about you, Astennu?" She asked with a cute tone.

Post by astennukephri on Jun 23, 2008 14:43:07 GMT -5
Astennu nodded as he listened to her words. It was true that Water Beatdowns could be very effective, even against the abilities of sets such as The Six Samurai. The sets he ran he knew one was fast and the other had good speed but he knew there was more to learn about them. He enjoyed the decks he had though he'd always have a soft spot for his current main deck.
"I run a Servant deck, So not only do those three have my back around here...they watch out for me on the dueling field too." said Astennu with a smile. "I also run a Lightsworn deck both of them are a lot of fun for me but I like using my Servant deck a bit more."
Astennu enjoyed the Servants, they were an interesting set to him, and though he still didn't know the whole story behind them. He wanted to learn about them more someday. But to him at this point they were like noble heroes of Magic and Valor.
"Our meeting with Astennu was more of a recent thing. He had just turned 16 and now that he is exploring the world around him. He's shown qualities that we all have enjoyed seeing. So at this point, Archer, Rider, and myself are following him...and guiding him to a hopeful bright future. I must commend you on what you have done for Desirae, Seer. It was a noble thing and she has much to thank you both for." said Saber as she let a small smile grace her features.

The Seer raised one hand in a manner as if she were saying that it were nothing. "She's repaid us a hundred fold. We don't require anything from her... we're like the parents she lost and we like that position. Though I think I would've chosen a slightly better husband." Seer said. Her gaze met that of the angry bird and she sighed. "He's not my type."
"Believe me. You're not my type either Meatbag." The penguin snarled. He crossed his flippers and waddled back down to the water in obvious supressed rage.
The Seer sighed. "The poor thing. I do believe I've abused it one too many times this time."
Her gaze graced the boy's face with the soft glow of her eyes and she smiled. She had come closer unconsciously towards the boy and now her shoulder was only about six inches away from his shoulder. Her skin looked smooth in the moonlight and her complection was pure on her face except for a few tiny freckles. That was the one of the many things she hated about her face. Her freckles. They didn't spot her face too badly but they were there and could be seen faintly at this distance.
"Well, I'm really glad that someone else can see the Spirits as well... I thought I was completely insane when people kept saying to me that they didn't see a penguin and a woman beside me." She said with a ringing laugh. She raised one pale hand behind her head and smoothed out her violet hair in a nervous motion. "After that, unless someone pointed out to me that I had a penguin following me, I never said anything about them."
Her heart was skipping a few beats. So this was what it was like, having someone who could compare with you. Having someone who you could talk to, who you could trust, who you could call a friend. She would have to give it time, but she had a feeling that she would become very close to this boy. It would be the first person she ever became close to ever in her life. The men who raised her rather disapproved of that. But for once, they had said to her to make friends. It was... odd. Very odd.

"He will cool off with time. He just wants the safety of your partner, though he is almost over protective of her." said Archer as he anaylized the situation.
"Indeed, he need not worry about Astennu...we take responsibility for him...he will prove to be no trouble." said Saber as she turned to watch the two.
Both of them were now only inches from each other, Astennu looking down towards her with a light smile on his face.
"I know how that is. There have been times I've looked like I was crazy for having the Servant's around. It is nice to meet someone who can see them as well. I don't have to worry about hiding them now." said Astennu as he continued to smile as he looked towards her eyes. He noticed the freckles as he looked towards her eyes.
Desirae was quickly becoming someone he could call a friend...and someone he could trust as well. He hoped that this would not be the last time they met.

"I don't worry about that. The boy will be good for Desirae." Seer said as she gazed on at the pair. The boy and the girl of Desirae's piece. Now hopefully, in some way, Desirae's piece would have a happy ending.
Her eyes narrowed a bit. But that... no matter what Desirae might wish... was not likely to be the case. Destiny had filled out a form for little Desirae LeMort and Destiny had a way of getting what it wanted.
The thing about Destiny was that she had an odd habit of throwing Desirae and the people Desirae was close to into mortal danger. But that tale would be spun eventually and when it was, it would likely signal the apocolypse.
She kept on staring into the boy's eyes. Her blue orbs were locking with Astennu's own eyes with a bit of a glowing passion. The beauty before Astennu tilted her head to the side in a fashion of question.
"I've heard some rumours that some can communicate mentally with the Duel Spirits... have you ever been able to do that?" She asked innocently.

"I hope so, I'd like to see some good things happen for Astennu." said Rider as she approached the Seer and her fellow Servants.
"You say that as if we were not a good thing for Astennu, Rider." said Saber as her eye twitched for a moment.
"Oh, don't be silly...we are one of the best things to ever happen to him." said Rider with a giggle in her voice.
Astennu's smile was still on his face as he looked into her eyes seeing the passion that was there. The waves flowed gently as they stood there as if being the calming motion that kept him calm. Astennu's own eyes glowed as the light of the moon reflected lightly off of them.
"Well, I can say that I am an example of that. Rider, Saber and Archer have all talked to me in my mind during duels. Have your spirits ever done so, Desirae?" asked Astennu as he was curious to see if he was a rare case.

"Sometimes, but not often." Desirae giggled. "I don't much care anymore if I talk out loud with my spirits." She finally looked away from his eyes and sat down on a fallen tree. Her hand patted the spot beside her, inviting Astennu to sit down. She smiled and leaned back. Her eyes and face raised up towards the skies and she looked directly up at the stars. She was completely oblivious to the fact that her halter top was completely revealing her adequately endowed cleavage and her sarong skirt was starting to reveal a lot of thigh. It was a good thing that she was wearing shorts. She reached up to her hair and took out her bow. The bow was completely soaked by now. She wrung it out and put it into the pocket of her shorts. Then she started wringing out her hair.
"Most people find me odd anyway." She said with a peaceful smile as she squeezed the ocean's water out of her violet hair. "I mean, naturally violet hair, a bit passive... you're one of the first that's ever really talked to me normally like I'm not completely insane." The smile on her face turned a bit sad and her eyebrows furrowed in what seemed to be bad memories. "I don't blame them really either. I am a bit weird." She laughed. "J'ai fou!" She exclaimed in French. "Fou, j'ai dit! Fou!" She giggled.
The Middle Eastern spirit looked on at them quietly and she coughed. "By the way, she's saying 'I'm crazy.'" Seer called to Astennu.
She giggled again. "You ruined it Seer!" She called back. Her face turned back to Astennu and she winked. "I've got to do that sometime in front of someone I don't know. Let's see how scared they get." She said with an evil giggle. The evil giggle didn't really sound serious at all. In fact, it sounded more like a squirrel on some sort of drug, to be quite frank.

Astennu chuckled as he sat down next to Desirae. It was true that people with duel spirits could be seen as odd at times but when it came to having them himself he didn't find her odd at all.
"Believe me, after being called a bit crazy by a few people, I don't find you at all insane. And to be honest, I haven't really seen too many people with natural violet hair but it does look nice on you. As far as doing that to someone you don't know...it will be a good prank but it will further people's view of you being crazy" said Astennu with a humored smile.
Astennu then thought back to what he saw on the way over towards her. He noticed the view her shirt was giving him and her skirt wasn't helping matters for him. He shook his head subtly so she wouldn't notice getting the images out of his head. It wasn't right to think of her that way...though her beauty was not to be denied at all.
Meanwhile, Archer, Rider and Saber were all watching the scene unfold with interest.
