An Eye for an Eye ((Open))

He had never really seen anything this literal, especially with the old saying of an eye for an eye. His left eye was covered up with the usual eye patch and his once sky blue, right eye was now a golden color. His pupil was sightly narrowed vertically, like a cat's almost. All thanks to an old Egyptian trap he foolishly stumbled into.

Now, Fai sat deep in the caverns of the San Melina Academy. He was alone as far as he knew, and was deep in thought about the small piece of onyx in outstretched palm. It was a small oval shape, like an eye and pitch black like an onyx. Just holding it, he could feel that familiar chill the shadows sent through him. A silent whisper spoke to his mind, as if there was something in the gem talking to him.

The Eye of Apophis... I thought I was done with this business, but the Eye of Darkness chose me. he thought. He rolled the small crystal in his hand, staring at it as if trying to pierce it's blackened surface to find the answers to his question.

'' So you got one too, I wonder who else was given one '' said a soft voice as Roxxan walked into the cavern. '' I thought I sensed something in here, guess I still have the nack '' she giggled. '' That's one of those eye things, Shizuma got one too '' she paused '' He's freaking out, because he either has the power to control others, or he's the re encarnation of the wife or Ra, do you know anything? ''.

Fai closed his hand around the Onyx and looked at Roxxan with his good eye. She had a familiar face, but he had forgotten many people from his past. Roxxan was no exception to his forgetfulness. He brushed his hair out of his face and blinked. Shizuma got one as well, and he could control others again. He didn't know what his own could do, as no one had told him.

"No, I know little of these... magical gems. May I ask your name before we continue?" Fai asked.

Roxxan cocked her head '' Fai-chans mean! '' she exclaimed '' He doesn't even remember Roxxan '' she paused '' That's just plain rude! ''.

If Fai could have had those sweat drops the people in anime could have, he probably would have. He felt foolish at forgetting one of his old friends. Maybe it was because they hadn't spent much time together, or maybe it was just him. He didn't know.

"My apologies Roxxan... Please forgive my forgetfulness." Fai said in his now usual very calm voice.

Roxxan smiled '' It's ok, Roxxan probibly would have forgotten the others if she hadn't gone to Eygpt '' she paused '' Hm, that eye patch is new, were did it come from ''.

Fai adjusted the eye patch when Roxxan asked about it. She was the first one to notice it so fast, or at least mention it so early. He gave a small sigh.

"Oh, this is a result of my own carelessness. I fell into a trap and lost the sight in my left eye as punishment I guess. What about you? How have you been?" Fai asked.

Roxxan smiled '' Oh just helping discover new Egyptian tombs, stuff like that '' she giggled '' Nothing to big, but even as clumsy as I am, I never ran into a single trap '' she said smiling '' Must have an insane ammount of dumb luck ''.

"Well, the trap was cleverly set. If you avoid the fatal trap, the second trap will send anyone in the room out of the tomb. I don't know if I lost my sight out of chance, or if it was part of the trap..." Fai said.

He crossed his legs and leaned his back against the rocky wall behind him. Well, all he had done was duel and sketch various places during the twelve year period.

Roxxan smiled '' So what part of Eygpt did you go to? '' she asked.

[Matt Miyama]

"The very heart of Egypt, in a tomb that was just discovered at the time. I forget the name they gave it. I assume you traveled all over Egypt?" Fai said. He placed the Onyx in his front shirt pocket and zipped it shut. He didn't need to lose it right after receiving it.

Roxxan nodded smiling brightly '' Yep, I've been all over '' she paused '' I'm actually supose to be at a dig right now, but I took a little time off to come work here ''.

"I see. Well, I can't criticize you. I've taken time off of work to do something else before. So, how long are you going to stay here?" Fai said. He had a calm look to him, smiling at the friendly conversation.

Roxxan smiled as she said '' Well I might go back just to see if I can find anything out about these strange eyes that seem to be popping out ''.

"I see. It would help us understand more about what their purpose is... So, what do you do around here? Are you a teacher or something?" Fai said. He wanted to know more about these... eyes before he used his. He still didn't know what his did. He closed his eye and thought about what he would do with it until he learned more.

Roxxan smiled brightly as she chimed '' I'm the Libarian '' she paused '' Well Marvelo's one too ''.

"I see. I read books a lot these days, so the library is one of my frequently visited locations these days." Fai said. So Marvelo was here as well? Fai had to wonder if he was still loose in the head. He certainly hoped not, because if he was he would cause problems again. If he wasn't, then he would probably be more friendly.

Roxxan smiled '' Yeah, but he hasn't been around much ''.

[Matt Miyama]

"That's not unlike him. He never really liked showing up in public too much." Fai said. It still made him wonder what he was up to. If he was still out for bad reasons, then he was likely to be a threat to the school, or to San Melina in general.

Roxxan nodded '' Yeah one time he dissapeared for two months, when he came back Mizuki-sama got so mad '' she laughed.
