He shrugged again. "My life is pretty scheduled, I read and do other miscellanous things like that. Aren't you going to get into trouble?" He questioned, it was getting later and later.

"Yeah... again..." she muttered her answer as she looked down the street towards her family's apartment building.

"Hmm... would it help any if you had a good excuse?" he thought of a plan quickly, he wanted to make sure she stayed safe, protecting good people was his primary concern.

"I guess it would." Zoé tilted her head in thought. "I don't know one though." She laughed.

"If you were with a responsible adult helping them out with a very important matter such as helping with security of legal files, then I don't see how your parents could be too upset." He smirked and adjusted his glasses.

"But come now, do I look like the kind of person who would do that?" she was smiling with laughter in her eyes as she spoke.

"Not unless the responsible adult didn't give you any choice." He took of his glasses and stuck them in his shirt pocket.

"Isn't that illegal or something?" Zoé raised a brow at him.

"Heh, not if you work for a security or disciplinary committee like I do." He smirked while fiddling with the parts of his glasses.

"I know," He looked her over and smirked. "It's my job to be a judge of character, so I knew as soon as I saw, you, plus I'd never seen you around, but your parents don't know that I'm not from the high school." He winked.

"True... but the HS is too poor to afford cool secret agent cops slash lawyers." She shrugged as she started to walk.

"I don't really get paid much for the academy either, I'm more of a voulenteer, although they do toss me some money whenever they can scrounge it." He smirked, "it's my job to convince people of the truth, I'm sure we can swing it." He laughed softly at the title she gave him.

He smiled back as they approached the apartment building. "Sure, no problem, I would hate for you to get in trouble simply for helping someone out, that's not right, and besides, I have to keep on eye on you and make sure you're safe in this part of town." He chuckled.

"Is that part of your secret agent slash cop slash lawyer code?" Zoé laughed as she started up the steps of her apartment building.

"Not really, it's more of a part of my personal code." He smiled lightly as he stood beside her.

"Would have been better if you said yes." She went to the stairs. "Third floor." She said as she started up the stairs. "Fair warning, my mom's insane..."

"It is to a degree, but I think my own opinion expands on that a bit." he smirked and walked up to the door, knocking on it softly, wondering what she meant by "insane".

Zoé hid behind him as her mother opened the door.
"Who are you?" She looked at the case. "Oh my gosh, are you a cop? Has Zoé done something wrong again?" She started to cry then quickly switched to anger. "When she gets home, she'll be getting what's coming to her!"
